Hello and welcome to the Global Lounge

"I would like to invite you to put your feet up for the next hour or so and join me for a musical journey from jazz to blues, folk to roots with all destinations in between...crossing oceans, borders and political boundaries to bring you music from around the world..."

Global Lounge gets jigging! In a Celtic way....

Date aired: 10/7/11

This week we started with a song, or two...by the Decemberists..
The playlist was inspired by the music of the Decemberists and started with a song about a mining tragedy that happened in the US, June 1917. Seemed like a good time to think of mine safety and appropriate considering the audience of our community station, many of whom are here for mining.
I followed the roots of the music from the album "The King is dead" and along with going to REM and Bruce Springsteen, the story song format led me to the Emerald Isles and Scotland and traditional folk music for a modern audience.
